We offer technical diver classes through PADI. Below is a short description of the classes we offer.  Call Jim at 352-363-0013

PADI Tec 40  introduces divers to limited decompression. Gear requirements are only a bit beyond those of standard recreational gear. A Tec 40 diver is qualified to conduct 10 minutes of decompression using a single cylinder of up to EAN50 to add conservatism to decompression. Max dive depth is 130 feet. Pre-requisites for Tec 40- Advanced Open Water, Nitrox diver, Deep Diver (or show proof of 10 dives to 100 feet). Have a minimum of 30 logged dives where 10 dives were on nitrox to at least 60 feet.  This class requires a minimum of four dives over two days and at least one full day of classroom/academic work.

PADI Tec 45 provides a transitional qualification while continuing to develop as a technical diver.  Taking this class is with the expectation the student will continue on to Tec-50.Pre-requisites include Tec 40 certification (or equivalent from another agency), Rescue Diver, CPR & First Aid within the past two years. Minimum of 50 logged dives where at least 12 dives were deeper than 60 feet using nitrox and 6 dives deeper than 100 feet. This class requires a minimum of four dives over two days and at least one full day of classroom/academic work.

PADI Tec 50 This course is the complete entry-level skill set for extensive open circuit decompression technical diving. The rating qualifies divers to use air, EANx, and oxygen for multiple stop decompression dives as deep as 165 feet on open circuit and to use two decompression gases (EANx & Oxygen) to accelerate decompression. Pre-requisites include being certified as a Tec 45 diver (or equivalent), Recue diver, First Aid & CPR within the past two years, 50 logged dives where 20 were made with EANx below 60 feet, and at least 15 dives with or without EANx deeper than 100 feet. This class requires a minimum of four dives over two days and at least one full day of classroom/academic work. Limited helium usage is allowed on the last dive.

PADI Tec Trimix 65 This is a new course that extends Tec 50 and bridges the gap to full trimix diver. A Tec Trimix 65 diver is qualified to use mixes of 18% Oxygen or more with dives to a maximum of 210 feet using open circuit, use two decompression gases.

PADI Full Trimix This course qualifies trimix divers in the use of hypoxic trimixtures. If combined with Tec Trimix 65 total price for both is $1500.

** Tec 40 & 45 Equipment Requirements - Double cylinders with isolator , or sidemount. primary and backup regulators one of which must have a 7 foot hose, decompression cylinders with regulator & spg, Two multi-gas computers -or- one multi-gas computer and backup tables and a backup timer and depth gauge, Jon Line, Surface marker buoy and reel, knife, slate, compass, backup buoyancy control, (a liftbag is not considered appropriate backup buoyancy control) Double wings or drysuits meet this requirement.
